Dresden was such a lovely city—so much history and beautiful architecture, impressively preserved despite the heavy bombing in WWII. We arrived just before the Christmas market opened but still got to see the Christmas tree, our first of the season!
It was a perfect day for wandering through the streets and along the Elbe River. Fun fact: Dresden is home to the largest porcelain mural in the world! It is 102 meters long and depicts the succession of the Wettin dynasty rulers from 1127 to 1904, ending with King George.
Across the river from the Old Town, the atmosphere shifts completely. The area is super artsy and, while different from the Baroque beauty of the Old Town, it has its own charm—full of cozy coffee shops, churches, and unique shops.
