Wrocław- The City of Dwarves!

We made it to Poland! We found a very pleasant population with lots of good food and houses that looked like they were made out of gingerbread! Being this far north in winter meant the sun set around 4:12 pm! :0… But it allowed for some really good time walking around and then tucking into a cafe or cozy corner to play cards and chat about what came next.

One of the highlights was attending an international church. It was the friendliest congregation we’ve visited on this trip, and it was wonderful to gather and worship with believers from all over the world.

Wrocław is famous for the hundreds of dwarves (or gnomes) scattered throughout the city. Their history goes back to the 1980s, when the “Orange Alternative” movement used graffiti gnomes as a humorous form of resistance against Communism. Eventually, the city honored this creativity by placing a bronze gnome statue in town. More and more followed, and today they’ve become a beloved symbol of freedom — and a fun scavenger hunt for visitors.
